Job Summary As a Staff Data Engineer, you are a technical leader who defines the architecture for how we operationalize and integrate payer data at scale. You are responsible for authoring our Data Quality standards, ensuring that the data powering the CMS Stars program is reliable and compliant. You bridge the gap between high-level strategy and technical execution, working closely with management to solve our most complex architectural challenges.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Databricks architecture (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, etc.).
  • Advanced mastery of Python, PySpark, and modern software engineering patterns.
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise-level Data Quality, CI/CD, and unit testing frameworks.
  • A growth mindset and a desire to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and influence technical direction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high-compliance environments (HIPAA, HITRUST).
  • Background in large-scale data modeling for healthcare payers.

Responsibilities

  • Author and instill Data Quality frameworks and engineering best practices across the organization.
  • Design the framework for automated testing and CI/CD that all teams will utilize for CMS Stars data delivery.
  • Serve as the technical lead for high-impact projects, evolving our Lakehouse architecture to support real-time payer data needs.
  • Partner with leadership to identify technical debt and propose strategic roadmaps for mitigation.
  • Act as a consultant to multiple teams, providing architectural oversight and solving complex performance bottlenecks.
