About The Position

The Heat Transfer Group in Carrier’s Mechanical Center of Excellence is seeking a motivated, results-oriented and experienced Staff Engineer to join our team. You will be a key member of the team providing advanced heat exchanger solutions to Carrier’s global HVAC&R portfolio. Your primary responsibility will be to lead modeling-centered technology and product development. You will collaborate with other technology experts, modeling and simulation experts, product design groups, supply chain partners, and others to develop new opportunities to improve the performance, cost, and reliability of Carrier products. Requirements

  • Must have one of the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 7+ years of engineering experience, Or Master’s degree in engineering with 5+ years of engineering experience, Or PhD degree in engineering with 3+ years of engineering experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics as well as heat transfer and heat exchanger design
  • Knowledge of two-phase flow phenomena (liquid-gas), heat transfer, and hydraulic resistance concepts.
  • Experience in mechanical and thermal design using numerical and analytical models; CFD/FEA familiarity is a plus.
  • Experience in computer programming languages; EES and MatLab.
  • Good communication and organization skills
  • Ability to manage critical tasks and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to creatively overcome obstacles to achieve project objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage technology development programs and deliver on-time solutions to internal customers.
  • Develop, validate, and deploy new heat exchanger technologies for Carrier’s current and growing range of products.
  • Identify and pursue innovation opportunities that improve efficiency, cost, reliability, and competitiveness of Carrier products.
  • Apply state-of-art design and simulation tools to optimize heat exchanger performance with a focus on compact heat exchangers and electronics cooling
  • Lend expertise to cross-functional product development teams to ensure successful insertion of new technologies in Carrier products.
