About The Position

Role summary: As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving the full software development lifecycle from coding to deployment and maintenance. This role requires expertise in cloud-native architecture, AI/ML integration, and software design patterns to build resilient, modular solutions. You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate across functions to translate complex requirements into actionable plans. About the team: The Enterprise People Technology team drives the deployment of advanced technology solutions across Walmart’s global operations. As part of Enterprise Business Services, the team delivers reliable platforms supporting Finance, People, and Associate Digital Experience. Operating within Walmart Global Tech, the team emphasizes operational excellence, scalable platform design, and continuous improvement. Members collaborate to develop innovative, industry-leading solutions that enable managers and associates to focus on core priorities. Requirements

• Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient systems.
• Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and platform development to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
• Ability to integrate AI/ML components and develop intelligent automation using languages such as Python, Java, and JavaScript.
• Demonstrated skills in debugging, problem solving, and data-driven decision making to optimize engineering outcomes.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills to engage stakeholders and mentor engineering teams.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and adherence to engineering best practices.
• Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
• Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

• Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
• Lead full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
• Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
• Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components and automation features using multiple programming languages.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics using data-driven practices.
