The (USA) Staff, Technical Program Manager leads the planning and execution of multiple complex technology programs, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and managing cross-functional dependencies. This role involves defining deliverables, schedules, and critical paths while driving process improvements and operational excellence. The position requires strong stakeholder engagement, risk management, and communication skills to facilitate clarity and consensus across teams. The manager oversees technical design discussions, monitors program progress, and implements solutions to optimize outcomes, supporting continuous innovation and effective delivery of scalable technology solutions within a dynamic environment. About the team: The Finance Technology team at Walmart partners with experienced engineers and product leaders to create advanced tax solutions that support financial and compliance needs globally. This team oversees systems processing billions of transactions annually, ensuring accurate tax calculations and regulatory reporting. Members influence the architecture and strategic direction of Walmart’s tax technology, impacting worldwide operations. The team emphasizes problem-solving, technical expertise, and delivering scalable solutions that generate business value. Joining this team provides the opportunity to tackle complex challenges and contribute to critical financial systems across all Walmart segments.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in program management techniques, tools, and frameworks to lead medium to high-complexity initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to align multiple teams and secure commitments.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodology and software development life cycle processes.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information clearly and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in analyzing risks, managing budgets, and driving process improvements for program success.
  • Technical knowledge of system design, cloud infrastructure, and technology solutions to support end-to-end delivery.
  • Ability to identify synergies, optimize resources, and implement automation frameworks.
  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
  • Option 2: 7 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Project Management.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 3 years’ experience in product design.

Responsibilities

  • Define program goals, deliverables, schedules, and critical paths to manage multiple medium to high-complexity programs aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Secure commitment from cross-functional teams and manage dependencies to ensure seamless program execution.
  • Translate product requirements into technical designs and collaborate on system architecture for scalable, high-availability solutions.
  • Monitor program progress, identify risks, and develop mitigation plans to maintain quality and timelines.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Drive process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance program efficiency.
  • Establish and oversee launch and post-launch operational excellence frameworks.
