About The Position
Sterile Processing Technician – Per Diem (Variable Shift) Location: Anacortes, WA Schedule: 0.1 FTE / Per Diem | Monday–Friday | Variable Shifts with On-Call Coverage Salary Range: $21.30 – $31.64 / per hour Differentials: Nights – $2.25 per hour Evenings – $1.65 per hour Weekends – $1.50 per hour Be the Unsung Hero Behind Every Safe Surgery At Island Health , every procedure depends on precision — and that begins with you. Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Formal or on-the-job training as a Central Service or Sterile Processing Technician (30 days – 3 months)
- Strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in a clinical environment
Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, clean, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays
- Operate autoclaves, washer-sterilizers, and related equipment
- Maintain daily sterilization records and quality controls
- Restock and manage instrument inventory for continuous patient care
- Support clinical teams during urgent or emergency needs
- Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques, infection-prevention standards, and hospital policy
