Requirements

  • On-the-job training or formal sterile processing / central service training within 30–90 days of hire (Certification requirements may apply based on union or organizational guidelines.)

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instruments and medical equipment
  • Operating autoclaves and washer sterilizers while maintaining required documentation and quality controls
  • Preparing and restocking case carts and procedural supplies
  • Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating supply orders to maintain continuity of care
  • Maintaining infection prevention standards and regulatory compliance
  • Responding to urgent and emergent supply needs
  • Collaborating with clinical teams to support efficient surgical operations
  • Participating in department training, meetings, and continuous improvement efforts
