About The Position
Stitchers are responsible for the high-quality machine and hand sewing required to construct and repair all costumes for the 2026 season. ABOUT BARRINGTON STAGE COMPANY Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Berkshires, is seeking two Stitchers to join our team in Pittsfield, MA. Barrington Stage has a three-fold mission: to produce top-notch, compelling work; to develop new plays and musicals; and to engage our community with vibrant, inclusive educational outreach programs. Requirements
- Skilled in operating industrial straight-stitch, overlock, and zig-zag machines.
- Working knowledge of costume construction techniques and materials.
- Ability to work quickly and follow detailed technical instructions.
- Must be comfortable working with students and volunteers.
- Reliable transportation and/or a valid driver’s license are preferred
Responsibilities
- Execute machine and hand sewing as assigned by Drapers and First Hands.
- Assist in the construction, alteration, and repair of costumes for all productions.
- Maintain industrial sewing machines, irons, and steamers in proper working order.
- Assist with the organization and restocking of costumes and materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the season.
- Other duties as assigned.
