About The Position

This position will prepare Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) produced contract plan sheets. This position will also assist in the review and evaluation of consultant produced reports, plans and design calculations for structures under the guidance of Technical Professionals.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of FDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Structures Manual, Soils and Foundations Handbook, Bridge Load Rating Manual, Plans Preparation Manual, Design Standards, Basis of Estimates Manual, Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CADD) Production Criteria Handbook.
  • Knowledge of American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Load-And-Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Bridge Design Specifications, Standard Specifications for Structural Supports for Highway Signs, Luminaires and Traffic Signals, Manual for Bridge Evaluation.
  • Knowledge of Structural engineering practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of Structural design/analysis software and MathCAD.
  • Knowledge of Structures and roadway construction plans.
  • Knowledge of Project scopes of services and staff hour estimates.
  • Skilled In Utilizing Microsoft Programs (Excel, Word, etcetera).
  • Ability to Utilize Computer Aided Design and Drafting software.
  • Ability to Solve engineering problems.
  • Ability to Effectively coordinate and communicate with others, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent and one year of continuous employment experience. Post-secondary education can substitute for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) produced contract plan sheets.
  • Assists in the review and evaluation of consultant produced reports, plans and design calculations for structures under the guidance of Technical Professionals.
  • Provides technical assistance and support for preliminary engineering, consultant acquisition and post-design activities.
  • Provides technical assistance to District staff as needed in support of Project Development & Engineering, Value Engineering, Construction and Maintenance activities.
