About The Position

The Department of Residence Life is looking for student-centered, dedicated, and growth-minded professionals for our residential communities. Our Community Managers are provided the training and opportunity to support and develop communities that promote academic success and student engagement. In this role, you will be working collaboratively with others around the department to assist with the recruitment, selection, and training of staff, management of unique residential facilities, and the ability to create an impactful residential experiences for students through support and engagement.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
One or more years of experience in student affairs work or related specialty.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to think critically and problem solve.
Ability to utilize strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
Effectively establish professional relationships and communicate with the student population.
Ability to act independently and react appropriately in crisis situations and maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in student affairs, counseling, or related field.
Previous year of full-time (or two years part-time) residence hall experience is strongly preferred.
Experience with mediation and conflict resolution.
Demonstrated professional maturity, leadership and decision-making abilities.
Understand how to apply student development theory in a residence hall setting.
Knowledge of key and occupancy management.

Responsibilities

Community Development and Engagement Foster a welcoming residential community by supporting student engagement and leadership development.
Partner with Residence Life staff, Living Learning Community partners, and student leaders to plan programs, assess community needs, and support initiatives that enhance the residential experience.
Advise Community Council and support student leadership development.
Address student concerns, provide referrals to campus resources, and support conduct processes in alignment with university policies and the Student Code of Conduct.
Recruit, supervise, and develop Resident Advisors and other assigned staff.
Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and evaluations while fostering a collaborative team environment.
Coordinate staff schedules and duty coverage, facilitate regular meetings and trainings, and ensure staff complete required university and departmental trainings.
Support summer camps and conferences by coordinating with campus partners and camp sponsors to ensure successful residential operations.
Assist with planning, communication, and oversight of summer staff and programs.
Manage camp arrivals, departures, and housing logistics while maintaining accurate records and reports.
Oversee daily operational needs within assigned residential communities including key management, facility reporting, safety inspections, and coordination with housing operations staff.
Conduct regular building walkthroughs, support fire and life safety processes, and assist with major departmental initiatives such as move in, move out, and campus events.
Manage administrative processes that support residential operations including incident reports, facility requests, staff payroll, and required departmental documentation.
Serve as a communication liaison between residents, student staff, and Residence Life offices while ensuring accurate records and timely reporting.
Participate in a rotating on call duty schedule supporting approximately 11,000 on campus residents.
Respond to after hours concerns and emergencies, coordinate with university partners and emergency responders, and ensure proper documentation and follow up.
Community Managers serve as essential personnel and must remain available to respond locally during assigned duty periods.
