About The Position

The Student Security Coordinator position provides and ensures general safety and security in the University residence halls during nighttime hours. Staff members may travel across campus to offer breaks and support to staff working at residence hall lobbies. Staff will have some opportunity to study while working, but must complete all assigned duties before doing so.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in at least six credit hours at The University of Texas at Austin or another approved post-secondary institution throughout the duration of employment
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to provide effective customer service, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficient with computer programs
  • Ability to work individually and in teams
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours (position begins at midnight)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee lobby and desk areas in University residence halls to enhance security efforts and minimize disturbances and rule infractions during nighttime hours
  • Check all exterior entrances and lighting to ensure all doors and lighting are functioning and secure
