Requirements

  • Possess knowledge of the uses of social media as well as a willingness to learn new features and applications as they are released
  • A creative and innovative personality with a passion for social media
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and accept feedback
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to multi-task, organize, and pay close attention to detail
  • Effective time management skills, with an emphasis on punctuality and reliability
  • Ability to work closely with others on a team
  • Possess general office skills and have ability to learn new software applications
  • Currently enrolled as a part-time or full-time student, maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0. Candidates must be in academic and judicial good standing

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with social media, communications or marketing strongly preferred
  • Photography skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing, monitoring, and creating content for the department's Facebook and Instagram accounts (@Redbird_Life and @Redbird_Food)
  • Research and report on the latest social media trends and find ways to implement the latest trends in the department's social media
  • Work closely with marketing team to create social media plan for various marketing campaigns and initiatives
  • Assist with the promotion of the Bird Shirt Program on social media and through outreach events
  • Help plan and execute general outreach events
  • Run analytics and analyze data to track the success of social media campaigns
  • Attend committee meetings, training sessions, and department events
  • Assist supervisor with marketing and communication related tasks including but not limited to printing and distributing signage, writing news stories, and more
  • Occasionally attend department events to provide social media coverage that fall outside the standard working hours of 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
