About The Position

As a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op , you will collaborate with engineers at our Therma-Tru playing a vital role in developing products that drive our growth as the manufacturer of fiberglass and steel exterior door systems and the preferred entry door brand among U.S. building professionals. As a co-op engineering student, you will engage in process and product development, focusing on standardization, optimization, and innovation. You will learn and apply essential chemical processing tools and conduct safety and hazard assessments including utilizing product and process development methodologies like APQP and D & PFMEA, developing standard work procedures and visual aids, and participating in plant simulation and equipment design. The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in chemical engineering, materials engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required, along with being a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder and having strong verbal and written communication skills. Location: This position is based on site in our Butler, IN plant facility and housing stipend is available.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program focusing on chemical engineering, material engineering, or related field from an accredited university
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • US Citizen or Green Card Holder
  • Great verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Support process and product development, standardization, and optimization
  • Learn and apply chemical processing tools
  • Conduct safety and hazard assessments for chemical systems
  • Utilize product/process development tools (APQP, D & PFMEA)
  • Develop standard work procedures and visual aids
  • Engage in plant simulation and equipment design
  • Collect and review statistical data
  • Analyze chemical systems
  • Perform root cause analysis and problem-solving
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned
