About The Position

During summer school, therapists provides skilled interventions and/or adapted tools and strategies to facilitate student access and participation in summer coursework, for students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or eligibility under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. This may include activities such as the selection and use of assistive and/or adaptive technology, or therapeutic strategies and tools that remove barriers to access and participation in the curriculum.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy plus a minimum of two (2) years directly related clinical experience.
• Current licensure to practice physical therapy or occupational therapy in the State of Tennessee required.
• Valid Tennessee driver’s license required.
• Commitment for the entire period of summer school.
• Attendance at ALL preparatory planning sessions and periodic administrative meetings.
• Availability for summer school closeout operations which may occur after new academic year contract has started.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in school based practice or pediatrics preferred.
• Members in American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), or national professional associations preferred.
• Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy preferred.
• Current SCS therapist in good standing preferred.
