City of New YorkNew York, NY

About The Position

The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities. The Asset Management Unit runs the Asset Inventory Management System (AIMS) a Charter-mandated function that maintains the City’s capital plant inventory and condition information, along with agency maintenance schedules and cost estimates. This work is designed to create public accountability for keeping major City assets from buildings to bridges to roads in good repair, strengthening how NYC tracks, maintains, and invests in the assets our communities depend on every day. The intern will design and develop an agency-facing web application that provides a dashboard and streamlined data-sharing interface for the Asset Inventory Management System (AIMS). Building on an existing proof-of-concept built in Python/Streamlit, the intern will create a more polished, user-friendly tool that enables City agencies to view, query, and export asset inventory data relevant to their portfolios. The application should feature interactive visualizations, filtering and search capabilities, and clear data presentation that makes AIMS data accessible to non-technical agency users. The intern will work closely with the Asset Management Unit to understand data structures, user needs, and reporting requirements, and will have the opportunity to shape a tool that improves how the City shares and acts on capital asset information.
