About The Position

The New York City Mayor's Office of Management and Budget (OMB) seeks a Graduate Learning & Development Intern to join our small L&D team. High-impact role: Unlike typical internships, you'll work like full-time staff during our busiest season. Expect meaningful responsibilities supporting training programs that strengthen skills across 500+ OMB employees with just our small core team.

Requirements

  • Graduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program.
  • Candidates should have strong analytical, quantitative, research and communication skills.
  • Additionally, candidates must be proficient in MS Word and Excel
  • To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program, graduate students must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program.
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college, university or law school.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework and/or experience related to learning and development (Adult Learning, Educational Technology, Curriculum & Instruction, Organizational Development, etc.).
  • Knowledge or experience in Instructional design.
  • Familiarity with Adult Learning principles.
  • Graphic design skills (PowerPoint, Canva, Figma) for creating visuals/infographics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and quick to learn new technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, outstanding written and oral communication abilities.
  • Proactive with exceptional organizational, research, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Teaching or facilitating experience.
  • Marketing training programs.
  • Website design/maintenance skills.
  • Event planning/coordination.
  • Project management.
  • Learning analytics.
  • Tech savvy (automation, data tools).

Responsibilities

  • Support needs analysis through surveys, focus groups, and data collection.
  • Design learning materials, job aids, facilitator guides, and participant resources.
  • Create micro-learning resources, visual guides, and graphics using PowerPoint or design tools.
  • Edit presentations for visual consistency and instructional clarity.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and analyze participant feedback.
