About The Position

Human Resources (HR) Intern will support the human resources department by assisting in workforce staffing and development, operational support, payroll, benefits, and employee engagement. The HR Intern will gain experience throughout human resources through assigned project work and on the job training.

  • Credit must be in good standing.
  • Must be bondable pursuant to §713.3(b) of the NCUA’s Rules and Regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Screens applicants to ensure the minimum qualifications of the job are met
  • Posts jobs weekly as needed to various sites using the job description
  • Assists with the post offer and onboarding processing
  • Gains in-sight with payroll processing and its interrelationship with accounting.
  • Learns how payroll systems function to manage regulations that govern employee compensation and benefits administration.
  • Understands federal and state labor laws, ensuing APFCU is following employee records.
  • Utilizes the HRIS for data entry, reporting and records management, and supporting payroll processing.
  • Maintains personnel files and may assist with HR audits.
  • Gain familiarity with the employee handbook and policies.
  • Supports a positive work environment by demonstrating professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical awareness.
  • Develops skills in addressing employee inquiries and managing sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • May rotate through our divisions of responsibilities and provides ideas to grow and improve the business.
  • As appropriate to the position and as specified by unit management, accepts designated, business-focus projects to research, propose ideas and solutions, and presents final project during the internship.
  • Engages with employees and/or members and provides service.
  • Provides suggestions for management to improve customer service and internal processes.
  • Learns and becomes proficient using internal software systems.
