As a Software Development Engineer Intern , you will have the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to the software development process by ensuring the development of accurate and quality code by being an active listener, engaged troubleshooter, and following through on the completion of work assigned. You will partner alongside a technical team, regularly collaborating with Product Owners, Software Developers, System Analysts, Cyber Engineers, and other Business Analysts in a DevOps approach incorporating agile principles and practices. This position is ideal for those who are majoring in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, who would like to gain some hands-on experience in both cutting-edge technologies and solving complex business problems. Premera’s Summer Internship Program is June 15th – August 21st, 2026. To be eligible for the program you must be enrolled in either an undergraduate or graduate degree program, or have recently obtained your degree (within the last 12 months). This is a hybrid internship program on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, Washington.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a two or four-year undergraduate program; a graduate program; or are a recent graduate (less than 12 months) of either an undergraduate or graduate program. (Required)
  • If undergraduate, have completed 50% of credits necessary to earn degree or certificate. (Required)
  • You take initiative, persevere, stay curious, and are energized by lifelong learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Application development experience utilizing HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React or Angular, C#, REST services, SQL, Azure cloud technologies, CI/CD, TDD, and some experience with AI preferred.
  • Experience or interest in DevOps developing infrastructure, configuration, deployment scripting, and automation for customer-facing services running on a mix of virtual machines and containers running on Kubernetes.
  • Experience or interest in automating using CI/CD tools in an Azure environment with Linux based deployments.
