About The Position

The AWP Safety Internship Program provides a hands-on, high-impact learning experience designed for early professionals who want to build a career in Human Resources. Interns will work directly within our fast-paced field operations, supporting HR functions that have a direct influence on our workforce and daily operational success. This is not a desk-only internship. You will be out in the field, partnering with frontline leaders, supporting employees, and gaining firsthand exposure to the realities of HR in a dynamic, safety-focused environment. What You’ll Experience: Real-World Field HR Exposure Support employee relations cases, corrective actions, coaching conversations, and policy adherence. Gain experience navigating complex, real-time HR situations with guidance from experienced Field HR leaders. Work closely with Operations leadership to understand workforce planning, staffing, performance management, and daily field challenges. Develop the grit, resilience, and problem-solving mindset required to support a large field workforce. Receive one-on-one mentoring from Senior HR leaders. Professional & Team-Building Activities Join workshops, leadership panels, and intern networking events. Participate in our “Journey-to-the-Job” series to explore diverse HR career paths. Note: This role requires time in the field. Interns must be able to provide their own steel‑toed boots. This 10‑week internship at AWP Safety’s corporate headquarters in North Canton, Ohio, places interns directly into the heart of Field HR operations. Key responsibilities include: Assisting with employee relations investigations, documentation, and follow-up. Supporting HR processes for our field workforce, including onboarding, compliance, and performance conversations. Collaborating with cross-functional teams—Safety, Operations, Talent Acquisition, and Legal—to support HR initiatives that impact frontline employees. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, is comfortable interacting with a diverse hourly workforce, and is eager to develop the confidence and judgement needed in Field HR.

Requirements

  • Rising junior or senior enrolled in a bachelor’s program, or a current master’s student; HR‑related coursework preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to remain composed, professional, and solution-focused when handling sensitive or urgent employee situations.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to work on-site and in the field; must provide personal steel‑toed boots.
  • Demonstrated resilience, grit, and an operations-first mentality.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in customer service, field work, or HR support roles preferred.
