About The Position

This seasonal position directs the recreational activities for children in grades K – 3. The camp runs for six weeks in the summer (June 15 to July 24) , Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m . at four of the elementary schools. Work is performed with independent judgment under the general supervision of the Summer Camp Coordinator and the Program Manager. This position is not eligible for paid sick hours due to being a six week, seasonal position.

Requirements

• Clear understanding of recreational department activities and procedures.
• Interpersonal skills
• High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Experience organizing youth activities is preferred.
• CPR/AED and First Aid preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets with staff during In-Service training to develop a themed activity calendar for the summer.
• Supervises camp counselors, the Art Supervisor and volunteers in daily camp activities and Friday field trips.
• Divides children up into age appropriate groups and assigns them to a camp counselor.
• Records daily attendance for campers.
• Documents staff and volunteer hours.
• Communicates with parents on a daily basis at check in and dismissal.
• Completes Incident and/or Accident Reports when necessary.
• Responds to emergency situations in a timely manner.
• Performs all other work as assigned.
