About The Position

The Payroll Supervisor oversees the accurate and timely processing of payroll across multiple U.S. manufacturing sites using Workday Payroll. This role leads a centralized payroll team responsible for payroll operations, data integrity, compliance, and exceptional service delivery to internal partners. The Payroll Supervisor serves as a Workday subject matter expert, ensuring consistent application of payroll policies, driving process efficiencies, and supporting ongoing system improvements. Position location: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule (3x per week) based out of Deerfield, IL. Requirements

  • 2+ years of Workday Payroll processing experience.
  • Knowledge of federal wage and hour laws (FLSA), and state compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR systems.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and data security.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business or the equivalent in work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ADP systems, specifically ADP Smart Compliance, preferred.
  • Team supervisory/management experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of payroll and HR integrations and reporting, ideally with Workday experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for the execution of all Workday payroll processing activities to ensure accurate and timely delivery of payroll services.
  • Oversee the full payroll reconciliation process, from local HR sign‑off on hours through the final Workday payroll calculations.
  • Actively participates in the day-to-day payroll activities and payroll processing cycle with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Review and approve all hourly and salary payrolls processed by the payroll team, and work close with the site HR/Operations teams to ensure payroll data is loaded timely.
  • Directly supervise, coach and develop payroll team members.
  • Ensure payroll controls and SOPs are properly established, documented, and followed, and partner with the audit team to test control effectiveness.
  • Work with the Payroll Director to drive strategic HR policy and system‑integration initiatives and continuously look for ways to add value
  • Monitor and utilize the helpdesk ticketing system to identify issues/trends and share critical information with the payroll team.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving supplemental, off-cycle payroll activities; including stock, expat, T&E, and bonus/commission processing.
  • Partner with the treasury and accounting teams to ensure that all post payroll activities are completed timely and accurately. This includes payroll funding, and General Ledger posting.
  • Maintain and participate in the development of departmental policies and procedures (SOP’s).
  • Collaborate with HR, Benefits, People Services, and other functional partners on payroll issues and cross‑functional projects
