The Supervisor, Service Planning State is responsible for supervision of the electrical distribution design services performed in the department. Develops and manages outside business which includes meeting with new and existing customers, preparing/presenting proposals, contract negotiations and ensuring projects are done with customer centricity in mind. Major departmental responsibilities include planning, design, coordinating service to new and existing customers, customer communications, key and community account management, facility upgrades, rebuilds, relocations, inspections and survey/right of way.

Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field plus three (3) years' experience in the design of distribution electrical facilities.
  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, an equivalent combination of seven (7) years education and working experience in technical, engineering, or operations related positions where extensive knowledge of transmission and/or distribution systems operations, maintenance and/or construction is obtained.
  • Must live within a reasonable distance from the service center and have ability/availability to oversee emergent work during nights and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer Project Representative experience or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Must be able to effectively function in a business environment where direct competition for our services exists.
  • Working knowledge of Decision Support, Maximo, MS Office Products and applicable software programs, company policies, procedures and tariffs.
  • Demonstrated leadership and effective interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, design, and coordination of service to new and existing customers.
  • Prepare and present proposals to customers to develop new business.
  • Negotiate contracts ensuring projects are within our schedule 3 and company requirements.
  • Control design service costs to within budget by scheduling resources to maximize productivity without sacrificing customer service.
  • Promote safety awareness and accident prevention through safety meetings and implementation of safe work procedures and practices.
  • Effectively interface with customers and municipalities to assess their needs, determine scope of the project, make key decisions regarding layout of company facilities.
  • Support emergent restoration efforts and after hour duty responsibilities and union crews as needed.
  • May participate on local community boards, joins in local council meetings, and leads and/or participates in community seasonal events.
  • Prepare and negotiate contracts in compliance with company policies, rates and Municipality limitations.
  • Maintain a technically competent department to meet the needs of customers. Hires, supervises, evaluates and develops a multi-discipline staff.
  • Provide a positive, interactive work environment that fosters high levels of trust, cooperation, employee performance and growth.
