About The Position

This Supportive Housing Program Supervisor oversees day to day operations to support newly housed individuals to stabilize and thrive in Permanent Supportive Housing. This position provides supervision to a team of case managers and support staff providing outreach-based services to participants in Permanent Supportive Housing grants. Supportive Housing Program services are focused on equity, individualized support, harm reduction, and connection participants to community-based supports. This position requires staff supervision and mentoring skills, ability to track and manage grant files, and a commitment to helping vulnerable people succeed in housing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of experience in social services (at least 1 year supervisor preferred) -OR- 3 years of experience in social services required (at least 1 supervisor preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and program operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate programs in a manner that respects the dignity, rights and abilities of participants and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent an organization in contacts with community groups, funders and government agencies in a successful fashion.
  • Ability to identify and work effectively with property and building managers, developing positive long-term relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as part of a program management team.
  • Understanding of case management, substance use disorders, mental health issues, and problem solving approaches for people experiencing homelessness.
  • Ability to provide mediation between participants and staff.
  • Up-to-date familiarity of community resources and services available to assist people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault issues and resources.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use word processing, database, calendar, spreadsheet, e-mail, and Internet programs.
  • Acquire First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire and be retested biannually thereafter throughout employment.
  • Complete Bloodborne Pathogens and Narcan Training within 30 days of hire and be retested annually thereafter throughout employment.
  • Demonstrate reliability by being present for work as scheduled, arriving and leaving on time and taking breaks in expected time frames.
  • Interact effectively with persons of diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, and sexual orientations and treat each individual with respect and dignity.
  • Attend agency and program staff meetings.
  • Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with participants, interaction with staff and interaction with the general public.
  • Hearing adequate for telephone work.
  • Vision adequate for close work.
  • Hand and finger dexterity adequate to operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to walk, bend, stand, sit, reach, stoop, pull, climb stairs, and squat.
  • Sitting at a desk completing paperwork and working on a computer for lengthy periods.
  • Mobility to allow responsive traveling to participant residences located around the metro area.
  • Ability to perform CPR and other emergency life-saving care with the assistance of teammates until emergency responders arrive.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day to day operations of the Supportive Housing Program including staff support and supervision, quality assurance, and safety.
  • Provide leadership, support, and positive role modeling for Supportive Housing Program staff.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of on-the-job training and guidance for staff.
  • Coordinate and provide coverage for team members when they are absent.
  • Perform all functions of supportive housing case management as needed to ensure participant needs are met.
  • Supervise assigned program staff. Responsibilities include assisting the manager with all personnel functions including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure safety of work environment by monitoring facility needs and on-going monitoring and examination of safety procedures.
  • Assist with program design, implementation, and evaluation to increase efficacy of services and staff satisfaction.
  • Facilitate staff and team meetings in the absence of the manager.
  • As requested, participate in all-staff meetings, program management meetings and retreats.
  • Other duties as assigned.
