About The Position

The Branch Director is responsible for the overall management of support services within a designated branch. This position will oversee the provision of support to program participants and provide general management of the branch. The Branch Director will also interact with program participants and so must be familiar with the Residential Service Guidelines issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration. At all times, the Branch Director will seek to act in accord with the principles and values expressed in the guidelines and uphold the agency mission “to serve individuals with developmental disabilities by providing accessible residential and other support services that will maximize the person’s quality of life.” The Branch Director reports directly to the Director of Operations. As the Branch Director, you are the primary leader for your assigned geographical area. You will have the autonomy to make decisions that directly affect the quality of care for our clients and the success of your team.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least two years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • At least two years of personnel management experience.
  • Candidates without a degree or the specific experience above may substitute five years of management experience in a community residential program, supported living program, or group home, plus five years of personnel management experience.
  • A valid Washington State Driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
  • A driving record that allows for coverage under the organization’s automobile insurance plan.
  • Clearance of Washington State background check through authorized agency.
  • Experience with planning, resource allocation, and coordinating people and schedules.
  • Understanding of how to apply learning and motivation principles to support individuals with varying abilities and behavioral needs.
  • Ability to manage budgets and develop programs that remain sustainable while increasing participation.
  • Ability to write and interpret individualized support plans (such as PBSP, ISP, or IISP) to assess needs and determine service suitability.
  • Knowledge of Washington State DDCS guidelines, WAC/RCW requirements, and RCS policies, with the ability to apply these rules to branch operations.
  • Experience identifying specific metrics to measure branch success and taking objective steps to improve results.
  • Ability to work with others to identify challenges and develop practical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage a multidisciplinary team, including Coordinators, Supervisors, Client Services Manager (CSM), Maintenance, and Quality Assurance specialists.
  • Oversee personnel health, including hiring, performance management, annual reviews, and ensuring all staff complete required continuing education and orientation.
  • Audit and approve electronic timecards
  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure they are in-line with state-reimbursement rates
  • Lead the intake process by developing service proposals for new referrals and private-pay inquiries.
  • Coordinate the rate-setting process with the Director of Operations to ensure services are adequately funded.
  • Facilitate family and guardian meetings, acting as the primary point of contact for client transitions and ongoing support plans.
  • Maintain 100% regulatory compliance by keeping documentation up-to-date and reflecting the specific needs of each program participant.
  • Manage incident reporting, tracking patterns of behavior to improve safety and service quality across your branch.
  • Handle state-level correspondence, including running investigations and responding to regulatory inquiries.
  • Serve as a critical link for emergent situations, acting as a liaison with DDCS personnel and participating in the on-call rotation.
  • Bridge the gap between departments by maintaining strong working relationships with Clinical, HR, and Finance teams.
  • Contribute to the annual operating budget and provide quarterly reports on branch metrics, housing issues, and progress toward goals.
  • Represent your branch in Economies of Scale (EOS) meetings and, occasionally, at Board of Director meetings to report on performance.
