About The Position

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler to join our Orthopedics team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and managing all surgical procedures for our orthopedic providers. You will play a key part in ensuring an exceptional patient experience by facilitating clear communication, timely coordination, and accurate documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in healthcare scheduling, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience contacting insurance providers and verifying insurance.
  • Familiarity with managed care contract requirements as they pertain to pre-cert and authorization processes.
  • Medical terminology experience and applicability
  • Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must be organized, and be able to manage demanding workload with accuracy.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Critical thinking skills and a positive attitude essential.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures for orthopedic surgeons in alignment with provider preferences and availability.
  • Communicate surgery details to patients, physicians, clinical staff, and surgical facilities.
  • Obtain necessary prior authorizations, insurance verifications, and pre-certifications.
  • Ensure all pre-operative requirements are completed, including labs, imaging, clearances, and paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Provide patients with detailed pre- and post-operative instructions and respond to questions regarding surgery preparation.
  • Collaborate with clinics, operating room staff, and external vendors to ensure all equipment and supplies needed for surgery are arranged.
  • Monitor surgery schedule changes and notify all impacted parties promptly.
  • Support orthopedic providers with administrative tasks related to surgical planning.
  • Assists other members of the department as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May travel to other CLS clinics as needed.
