About The Position

Primoris Heavy Civil in Waco, TX is actively searching for a motivated and reliable Survey Helper / Assistant to join our field surveying team in the heavy civil construction industry. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals with little or no prior surveying experience who are eager to learn and build a career in construction surveying. The Survey Helper will assist experienced surveyors with field measurements, equipment setup, and data collection for projects involving roads, bridges, highways, and other large infrastructure projects. This role offers hands-on training and the opportunity to learn modern surveying methods, including the use of GPS, total stations, and other advanced survey equipment used in heavy civil construction. Key Responsibilities Assist surveyors with field surveying activities on construction sites. Help set up and maintain surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS units, tripods, prisms, and levels. Hold rods, targets, and prisms during measurements. Mark survey points, stakes, and reference markers as directed by the survey crew. Record measurements and assist with data collection. Transport and organize survey equipment and supplies. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Follow safety guidelines and company procedures on construction sites. Support layout and verification for roads, bridges, highways, and related infrastructure. Learn surveying techniques, terminology, and construction layout practices from experienced team members.

Requirements

  • No prior surveying experience required, training will be provided.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Strong willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
  • Basic math skills and attention to detail are helpful.
