Program Details Duration: 10-week internship from May 18 – July 24, 2026 Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week) Work Environment: Hybrid – remote work from the state of North Carolina with onsite events at our Durham campus Residency Requirement: Interns must reside in the state of North Carolina for the duration of the program Experience: Hands-on project work that supports our customers and strengthens communities across North Carolina Mentorship: Interns are paired with a mentor and receive regular feedback to support their development What You’ll Do Join the Sustainability & Impact team, where we ensure that Blue Cross NC operates responsibly by aligning business goals with long-term societal and environmental health and wellbeing. As an intern, you’ll support our carbon footprint and operational efficiency efforts, gaining exposure to how companies approach long-term goal-setting, account for their greenhouse gas impact in areas such as supply chain, and consider sustainability certifications such as WELL. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to work that drives real change in healthcare.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a degree seeking Graduate (MBA, Masters) academic program, ideally in sustainability or corporate social responsibility
  • Strong curiosity, drive, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Interns must reside in the state of North Carolina for the duration of the program

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data and reporting concepts
  • Prior internship or project experience in sustainability or corporate social responsibility
  • Familiarity with concepts such as carbon footprint and social impact tracking
