About The Position

Overview Nakupuna Companies is seeking a skilled System Administrator with strong experience in Linux environments and APIM systems to support the U.S. Army Human Resources Command (HRC). This role is essential to maintaining, securing, and optimizing mission‑critical systems that support Army-wide personnel operations. The ideal candidate will work closely with system administrators, developers, cybersecurity teams, and network engineers to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability across enterprise applications and infrastructure. Responsibilities The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job, but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned Linux & APIM System Administration Install, configure, secure, and maintain Linux servers supporting APIM and enterprise web services Perform system patching, updates, configuration management, and baseline enforcement Manage user accounts, permissions, and security controls in alignment with DoD and Army policies Monitor system performance, capacity, and resource utilization, resolving issues proactively Automate routine tasks using Bash, Python, or configuration management tools Web & Application Server Management Install, configure, and maintain web and application servers such as Apache, NGINX, Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere, or IIS Support deployment and lifecycle management of web-based applications Manage SSL/TLS certificates, DNS entries, and domain configurations Ensure uptime, performance, and reliability of web applications and backend services Troubleshooting & Tier II/III Support Diagnose and resolve issues involving Linux systems, middleware, authentication services, and integration points Provide advanced support for incidents affecting web services, content delivery, and system connectivity Collaborate with networking and cybersecurity teams to resolve performance, security, or access-related issues Security, Compliance & Monitoring Apply security hardening standards, vulnerability remediation, and DoD cybersecurity requirements Maintain compliance with NIST, RMF, FISMA, and Army security frameworks Support log monitoring, audit readiness, and incident response activities Documentation & Continuous Improvement Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations, architectures, SOPs, and operational processes Recommend improvements in automation, monitoring, and system reliability Stay current with emerging technologies relevant to Linux, APIM , and enterprise hosting environments Qualifications Skills/Qualifications: The candidate must be self-motivated, pay close attention to detail, and have good oral and written communication skills. Additional certifications may be required as prescribed by DoDD 8140 (e.g., Network+ CE, Security+ CE, CASP CE) Experience in one or more of the following areas is beneficial: Linux Administration (Primary Focus) APIM Systems VMware, Citrix, Nutanix ESB, ELK Stack Windows Server Web Services & Middleware Platforms Education and Experience: The following are desirable levels of experience: Bachelor’s degree in any technical or managerial discipline is preferred 3+ years of hands-on system administration experience Clearance Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance. An interim is required before receiving a formal job offer Work Location: Fort Knox, Kentucky. Requirements
