Where Hard Stuff is Done Right!We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support our work with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, MD. Work with organizational experts and assist in the performance of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) studies and analyses for Defense Systems. This includes Systems related to new and emerging technologies as well as development of mitigation strategies that can enhance military systems, subsystems, and components, particularly technology insertion and rapid prototyping to enhance the performance of legacy systems. Requirements

  • 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
  • The candidate must also have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • A strong preference will be given to candidates with experience developing System Requirements Review (SRR) and architecting SysML models in Cameo, including use cases, logical context diagrams, behavioral and state modeling, and end‑to‑end requirements traceability.
  • Ideal candidates will also have the skillset to produce detailed 3D CAD models and mechanical drawings to support system‑level requirements packages, as well as broad systems engineering experience creating System and Subsystem Requirements Documents (SRDs), test plans, test procedures, technical documentation, and Requirements Verification Traceability Matrices (RVTMs). Additional preferred qualifications include conducting preliminary hardware and software testing, coordinating closely with customer technical leadership, managing PCBA vendor selection and design‑for‑manufacturability (DFM) processes, and leading the design and development of complex digital processor hardware.
  • Experience performing system performance analysis using MATLAB and providing technical leadership in advanced manufacturing domains—such as printed electronics, multi‑chip module processes, CNC machine configuration, and automated equipment programming—is also highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk assessment, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Conduct analyses at all levels of the total system product lifecycle, including concept, design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total system solutions that meet technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations summarizing experimental methods and findings.
  • Support preparation of research results for internal briefings and external publications.
