The Tax Accountant will play a key role in Heidelberg USA’s Finance & Tax department by ensuring accurate tax reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting both month-end and year-end close processes. This position requires a detail-oriented, analytical professional with strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of accounting principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Tax, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of detailed Sales tax experience.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and familiarity with IFRS a plus.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP experience strongly preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support sales tax compliance.
  • This includes preparing, filing and remitting payments to state and local jurisdictions.
  • Knowledge of state sales tax exemption certificates.
  • Analyze and perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare general ledger activities and maintain proper documentation for audit purposes.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial insights to management.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure accurate collection of Sales Tax
  • Assist with external and internal audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Detailed knowledge of Sales & Use tax requirements & rules by state.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OneSource Indirect Tax & RS Express Go Tax system.
  • Working knowledge of Federal State & Local Income Tax returns and processes.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
