About The Position

We are currently looking for a Technical Program Management Intern to join our team in Alexandria, VA. The intern will work on concurrent projects involving Deployable Systems (DS) as part of one of the US Air Force’s premier programs at MTSI’s headquarters in Alexandria, VA. The intern will visit the client site at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), as requested by the Government. Responsibilities: Duties to be independently executed include but are not limited to: Assist the Government in project management, acquisition support, and technical oversight of customer development efforts. Work closely with Government program managers, lead project engineers, contracts, finance, and program teams. Maintain awareness of day-to-day issues and plan/prepare for significant project events. Assist in the full spectrum of actions required to award contracts and contract modifications to other contractor(s) that may include pre-award documentation, assistance in the support of source selection activities, and post-award support activities. Review contract deliverables, integrated schedules, technical status reports, and cost performance reports to better understand the programmatic details. Assist in the creation and approval of acquisition strategies, program planning and creation, early capability development strategies and project planning, and the transition of program execution to the appropriate Program Executive Officer. Assist in the development and communication of roadmaps for programs and associated technologies and product lines. Assist in the development of integration plans and procedures and organize resources to facilitate program transition activities. Assist in milestone planning, tracking, scheduling, briefing preparations, staff coordination, and decision documentation preparation. Provide technical support to the entire project team and provide status updates to the Government leadership team. In this role, you’ll be bringing exceptional communication and influencing skills to a dynamic team by: Being knowledgeable about program management processes and having the ability to apply them to both military systems and commercial systems. Crafting relevant documents and presentations to various stakeholders. Taking initiative on relevant tasks for a given program.

Requirements

  • Junior or Senior year in your collegiate academic studies.
  • Working towards a degree in Engineering or Management degree.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools.
  • Be a self-starter, thrive in a dynamic environment, can accomplish high-level tasks independently, is skilled in problem definition, and work well with other team members.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly translate client technical needs and assimilate project information.
  • Comfortable supporting multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Has a US Secret clearance (preferred) or is able to apply for a clearance with MTSI assistance.
  • Interest in leveraging the capabilities of their university to support current & future work.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with help from experienced team members.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance.
  • US Citizenship is needed for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic working knowledge of engineering tools such as MS Project would be beneficial.
  • Ability to learn new tools as well as some experience with collaboration tools including but not limited to: Confluence and/or Jira would be helpful.
