About The Position

Monadnock Construction, Inc. is a leading general contractor in New York City, specializing in large scale, multifamily residential construction projects. We are seeking a Technical Trainer to enhance the skills and knowledge of our workforce, including laborers and field based management staff. Position Overview: The Technical Trainer will be responsible for developing and delivering training programs that enhance the construction skills, safety awareness, and technical capabilities of our field workforce. This role will focus on improving competencies in safety standards, trade-specific skills, equipment use, and construction operations. The Technical Trainer will partner with our in house Safety team, operations teams, and foremen to ensure our teams have the training needed to execute high-quality work while maintaining safety on job sites.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in NYC building construction with some experience in training, education, or mentoring others in construction.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to engage, teach, and motivate a workforce with varying levels of experience and expertise.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, tools, materials, and safety protocols, specifically in NYC construction. Thorough knowledge of DOB requirements/regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 500 and NCCER certifications are strongly preferred, but not required to start. Monadnock will sponsor required certifications.
  • Prior experience in creating effective training programs in a construction environment preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver training sessions that focus on core construction skills and safety enforcement per OSHA and NCCER standards (including but not limited to general labor tasks, carpentry, masonry, mechanical and electrical trades, scaffolding, fireproofing, waterproofing, tools and equipment operation/safety, and emergency preparedness).
  • Coordinate with VP of Safety Operations, General Labor Foreman, and Executives to coordinate topics and maintain a rolling schedule.
  • Utilize trusted subcontractors and 3rd party consultants when needed for specific topic training.
  • Lead training on OSHA and all required DOB certifications. Additionally, partner with field supervisors and foremen to assess job-specific training needs, and develop custom training for various job sites and projects.
  • Use feedback from management staff to evaluate the performance of trainees to identify knowledge gaps and areas for improvement. Ensure the continuous development of the workforce.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date training materials and plans that align with industry and company standards.
  • Develop methods of testing the efficacy of the training, ensuring that participants have successfully completed and meet Monadnock standards.
  • Keep up with the latest trends in construction technology, equipment, and best practices, integrating new knowledge into training programs to enhance employee skills.
