About The Position

MAJOR FUNCTION: Performs testing and quality control procedures as a generalist in all operational departments relevant to the site and shift of hire. Ensure operation of laboratory instrumentation by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements; troubleshooting malfunctions; evaluating new equipment and techniques. Perform, evaluate, and record quality control and institute corrective action as appropriate. Take part in proficiency sample testing, when appropriate. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Perform any other duties necessary to run an efficient and effective laboratory. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must be able to work independently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related field OR
  • For HEW/HHS - High school graduate or equivalent with 50-week military training as Medical Lab Specialist OR Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory or Clinical Laboratory training program.
  • 1 to 3 years clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • ASCP, MLT equivalent, level eligible at date of hire
  • Certification must be achieved within 12 months after hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 to 3 years clinical laboratory experience preferred
