About The Position

team!

James Madison University’s Facilities Management Department is accepting
applications for multiple Temporary Summer Landscape Workers. Work is 20-40
hours per week starting as early as May 4th and going as late as August 21st,
2026.. Typical work schedule is Monday – Thursday 6:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and
Friday 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., with some flexibility allowed. 14/15 year old
employees will not work more than 8 hours in one day.

Requirements

• Must be able to work predominately outdoors in extreme weather temperatures and conditions.
• Must be 14 years of age or older as of the start date.
• Landscape experience is helpful but not necessary.
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
• After accepting employment, new hires are required to complete an I-9 form and present documentation of their identity and eligibility to work in the United States. James Madison University uses the E-Verify system to confirm identity and work authorization.

Nice To Haves

• Landscape experience is helpful but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• General landscape duties include weed-eating, watering, weeding, planting, mulching, trimming and possibly turf maintenance.
• Assigned duties will depend on employee's age.
