About The Position

The Terminal Supervisor is in charge of all aspects of the operations at the terminal making sure that all daily and weekly activities are completed in a timely and safe manner. The supervisor oversees a team of loaders to facilitate the timely and safe transloading of chemical liquids and other materials. The supervisor will oversee the Transportation drivers and equipment through the Transportation manager. The supervisor makes sure that all loaders are trained on all SOP's. Supervisor submits and audits loaders time sheets and drivers time and initiates any type of disciplinary actions towards loaders. Supervisors assist Operations and Transportation managers in controlling cost and overtime in order to meet departmental goals

  • Able to be on call and respond to emergencies
  • Able to climb on top and underneath of railcars, containers, and tank trailers.
  • Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, squat, and climb, as necessary to perform vehicle inspections and load/unload cargo.
  • Able to lift 100 pounds.
  • Able and willing to help team members with physical work as needed
  • Able to work outdoors and tolerate extreme or adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be comfortable working around and handling hazardous chemicals.
  • This position requires climbing up to 25 ft high onto trailers, railcars, or containers.
  • Must not be afraid of heights.
  • Must be able to wear bulky/impeding PPE including rubber/nomex suits, full-face respirators, or self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBA).

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of employees who are responsible for complex transloading activities, product heating, transportation and a variety of special services
  • Motivating employees to be a high performing team that is safe, error free, meets or exceeds targets, and provides exceptional customer service
  • Review and approve timecard hours in the timekeeping system daily
  • Communicating needed information within and across departments
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as applicable regulations from such agencies as OSHA, US Dept. of Transportation and the Federal Railroad Administration.
  • Educating and training team members to make sure they are capable and safe.
  • Coordinating the maintenance of a variety of equipment including pick-ups, compressors, boilers, nitrogen systems, scales, pump systems, tractors, trailers, and emergency response equipment by utilizing the maintenance management system
  • Scheduling Team Member work, maximize productivity and control costs, such as overtime expense
  • Purchasing and inventory control of transloading consumables and supplies
  • Work with other departments in developing and executing new business
  • Conduct department safety meetings and ensure compliance in safety initiatives.
  • Work with the safety department regarding any opportunities for improvement in the overall safety operations.
  • Back up Transloading Terminal Coordinator as needed on all duties.
  • Report Daily efficiency reports to Department Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
