About The Position

The Testing Center Support Specialist and Exam Proctor supports the administration of academic examinations by ensuring a secure, compliant and student-centered testing environment at the Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC). This role is responsible for coordinating exam logistics, implementing approved testing accommodations in accordance with institutional policies, and maintaining accurate documentation and reporting. The Proctor works closely with faculty, students and campus partners to uphold testing integrity, confidentiality and regulatory compliance while delivering professional and responsive service. This position requires strong customer service skills, computer skills, clear communication, and the ability to convey authority in a courteous manner to enforce exam requirements. Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Understanding of FERPA and ADA regulations.
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques for public contact in person and on the telephone.
  • Knowledge of basic recordkeeping procedures.
  • Exercise judgement and discretion.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing and follow written and oral instructions in English.
  • Able to give clear and concise instructions in English.
  • Meet and deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner while enforcing examination rules and procedures.

  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Count quickly and accurately.
  • Learn general and specialized software applications.

  • Six months of experience proctoring examinations.

Responsibilities

  • Exam Administration and Proctoring
  • Prepare and process previously approved examination requests and schedule exams using a web-based system (AIM).
  • Read and communicate standardized examination instructions in English to candidates.
  • Monitor testing rooms during examination administration to ensure a secure and compliant testing environment
  • Enforce examination time limits and all established testing procedures.
  • Explain examination procedures and respond to candidate questions in a clear and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of testing center protocols; promote and enforce all requirements while communicating exam expectations clearly to faculty and candidates.
  • Distribute examination materials to candidates in accordance with testing procedures.
  • Collect, verify, and accurately account for all examination materials upon completion.
  • Verify candidate identification prior to exam administration.
  • Document and report rule violations, irregularities, or unusual occurrences during testing.
  • Accurately calculate and monitor individual testing time, including approved accommodation such as extended time and scheduled breaks.
  • Review, confirm, and prepare approved accommodation in advance of scheduled testing sessions.
  • Coordinate and ensure the secure delivery and handling of completed examinations.
  • Compliance, Documentation and Reporting
  • Notify appropriate personnel promptly when testing equipment malfunctions or technical issues arise.
  • Maintain organized electronic and/or physical filing systems, ensuring records are accurate, current, and accessible in compliance with departmental and institutional guidelines.
  • Track and maintain monthly, semester, and annual testing metrics and reports
  • Complete end-of-shift reports summarizing activities, issues, and follow-up needs for review by the Testing Center Coordinator.
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical records in compliance with institutional policies, FERPA, ADA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Administrative Support
  • Collect, maintain, and manage faculty contact information, including input into Google Voice systems.
  • Collaborate with campus partners, including Campus Safety and on-call teams, in emergency situations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
