About The Position

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Theatre Assistant to join us in a permanent, part time or full-time role. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually. The Theatre Assistant / Orderly will provide effective and efficient orderly support service to our client's based on a customer focus philosophy.

Requirements

  • The successful candidate will have a current Open Driver’s Licence (with no restrictions).
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety and anti-discrimination practices
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate III in Health Support Services, highly desirable
  • Experience in obstetric theatres, highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients and equipment within the Mater complex
  • Assist with patient positioning, utilising a variety of positioning aids and specialised equipment
  • Remove soiled linen, rubbish, and sharps containers
  • Perform duties within the departmental scope of duties
  • Fulfill additional duties as requested
  • Promote a safe and harmonious workplace
  • Comply with Hospital and Departmental Policies & Procedures
  • Provide support services including patient transport, waste and linen management
  • Actively engage in self-development and performance management
