About The Position

A Traffic Electronics Maintenance Technician I installs, maintains and repairs basic traffic electronic control equipment. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive close supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work rotating shift work and are subject to call-back. Work is performed in an electronics shop and outdoors where there is occasional exposure to inclement weather and traffic hazards. Work requires moderate physical exertion in bending and reaching for equipment.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
  • Have two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical or electronic equipment.
  • Completion of two years at an accredited college or university in digital electronics, computer science or a related field.
  • Possession of a General Radio-telephone license issued by the Federal Communications Commission may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement.
  • Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required.
  • PROVISIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE OR LEARNER PERMITS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
