As a core part of the WBG’s mission, the department focuses on developing, financing, and advising on transport infrastructure and services that are vital for economic growth, regional integration, and poverty reduction. Our work encompasses all modes of transport—including road, rail, maritime, and aviation—and covers both urban and rural environments. The department collaborates with public and private sector partners to design and implement innovative solutions that address emerging challenges such as climate change, rapid urbanization, technological advancements, and the need for improved supply chain resilience. Key functions of the WBG Transport and Logistics Department include: • Providing technical expertise and policy guidance to support the development of sustainable transport systems. • Mobilizing financial resources and investment for large-scale transport and logistics projects worldwide. • Promoting the adoption of cutting-edge digital and green technologies within the transport sector. • Strengthening institutional capacity and governance frameworks to improve service delivery and safety. • Facilitating knowledge sharing, research, and innovation to inform better policy and practice. The department’s multidisciplinary team works closely with governments, development partners, and private stakeholders to ensure that transport and logistics solutions are tailored to local needs and contribute to broader goals of economic competitiveness, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability. Duties and Accountabilities: The candidate will join the front office of the WBG Transport and Logistics Director. He or she will play a critical role in monitoring the department’s portfolio of knowledge activities, as well as the broader investment portfolio of the WBG (World Bank, IFC and MIGA) in transport and logistics. He or she will track corporate targets and be ready to respond to multiple time-sensitive demands related to portfolio-related issues, but also be proactive in flagging key emerging issues to WKI management.
