Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering/Management from an ABET-accredited program OR ODOT prequalification as a Project Inspector in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years of professional experience with transportation construction activities including: Concrete construction, Earthwork, excavation, and grading, Pipe installation, Pavement markings and signage, Hot Mix Asphalt construction, Maintenance of traffic / temporary traffic control
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites throughout Ohio

  • Project Inspector I and/or II Certification
  • Construction Engineer Level I Certification
  • Project Structures Inspector Certification
  • Traffic Signal and Lighting Inspector Certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide construction inspection and administration services for roadway, bridge, and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Observe and document contractor operations to verify compliance with plans, specifications, ODOT standards, and approved traffic control.
  • Prepare accurate daily inspection reports, quantity measurements, and supporting documentation for pay estimates.
  • Review contractor schedules and coordinate daily activities with contractors, agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Verify field surveys, materials placement, and construction methods.
  • Coordinate and oversee third-party materials testing and special inspections.
  • Identify potential change order issues and provide supporting documentation and input to the project team.
  • Maintain organized project records, including photographic documentation.
  • Monitor labor compliance requirements as applicable.
  • Support overall project delivery and perform related duties as assigned.
