About The Position

Catalina Island Health is seeking a Per Diem Ultrasound Technologist to support the Radiology Department by performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations and ensuring high-quality imaging to assist physicians in patient diagnosis and care. This position is ideal for experienced sonographers seeking flexible scheduling in a small hospital environment. The Ultrasound Technologist collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to support safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of ultrasound imaging techniques, anatomy, and diagnostic scanning procedures.
  • Ability to recognize normal and abnormal anatomical structures during ultrasound examinations.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to diagnostic image quality.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and healthcare staff.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and imaging systems.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of diagnostic ultrasound experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician orders and established imaging protocols.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and explain the ultrasound process to ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
  • Review patient history and clinical information to ensure appropriate imaging procedures are performed.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Evaluate images for diagnostic quality prior to submission for physician interpretation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of procedures in the electronic medical record system.
  • Ensure patient identification and safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment and ensure the work area remains clean, organized, and adequately stocked with supplies.
  • Coordinate with physicians, nursing staff, and other departments to support efficient patient care and workflow.
