About The Position

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. and provide services outlined below: Perform standard and complex diagnostic ultrasound examinations—including examinations of the abdomen, liver, renal, gynecology (GYN), and small parts—to produce high‑quality images that support physician diagnosis and treatment decisions. Ensure correct patient identification, education, positioning, comfort, and safety; complete documentation in the Hospital Information System–Radiology Information System (HIS–RIS) (switching to Cerner) and the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS); and support urgent and emergent care, including irregular‑hour on‑call coverage. Perform routine and complex scans per orders and protocols (abdomen, liver, renal, GYN, small parts). • Verify patient identification; explain procedures and any potential hazards; ensure privacy, comfort, and optimal positioning. • Achieve diagnostic image quality; practice safety and participate in quality assurance activities as directed. • Confer with radiologists on non‑standard exams and promptly notify scans requiring immediate attention. • Schedule and prioritize to optimize scanner utilization and accommodate emergency patients. • Complete required forms; register and edit exams; ensure images route to PACS; maintain records and files of exams. • Perform emergency scans on standby/on‑call, twenty‑four hours per day, as assigned. • Follow VA safety policies; comply with infection control requirements including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Bloodborne Pathogens Standard; wear required PPE. • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies. This list is non-exhaustive, and the role holder may be required to undertake additional duties that are not specifically listed above.

Requirements

  • Must be registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Abdomen/Small Parts and at least two separate certifications, such as RVT, OB/GYN, Muscular Skeletal, etc;
  • Must have a BCLS certification and demonstrate expertise in ultrasounds of scrotum, pelvis and U/S guided biopsy, including liver and renal biopsies of native and transplanted organs, renal artery stenosis and renal Doppler.
  • Must have a minimum 3 years of hospital experience within the United States.
  • Must have worked within a hospital setting as an Ultrasound Tech in the last six months.
  • Must have worked within a hospital lab setting as a Vascular Ultrasound Tech in the last six months
  • Associate's degree in diagnostic medical sonography or a related field or
  • Bachelor's degree in diagnostic medical sonography.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.
