About The Position

Calvary Day School is seeking a passionate Upper School Science teacher for grades 9th through 12th for the 2026-27 school year. This educator will teach a range of science courses, including Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Physics. The ideal candidate values hands-on learning, inquiry, and project-based instruction that helps students think critically and apply scientific concepts in meaningful ways. Faculty members play a key role in helping students master content, build strong study habits, grow in communication skills, and develop academically and spiritually. Calvary Day School exists to provide a Christ-centered educational experience for students from Birth through 12th grade by developing the total student spiritually, academically, socially, and physically. Calvary Day School is a Christian school in Savannah that partners with families daily to help students grow in wisdom, character, and faith. Through strong academics, small classes, chapel, student services, and a wide range of athletics, fine arts, and clubs, Calvary equips students for college and for life. Our college counseling program provides individualized planning and support to prepare students for what comes next.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science-related field
  • Ability to teach Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Physics
  • Strong communication skills and a relationship-first approach
  • Comfort with educational technology and willingness to use tools that support student learning, including appropriate use of AI tools

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of teaching experience preferred
  • Experience with laboratory instruction and project-based learning preferred
  • AP certification preferred or willingness to pursue AP certification
  • Georgia teaching certification in the assigned content area preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned to course standards and school expectations.
  • Teach multiple science disciplines, including Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Physics.
  • Design and facilitate regular laboratory experiences that reinforce scientific concepts and skills.
  • Incorporate project-based learning opportunities that encourage collaboration, problem-solving, and real-world application.
  • Prepare students for advanced coursework, including AP-level classes when applicable.
  • Create a classroom culture of clear expectations, consistency, and respect.
  • Assess student learning through a variety of methods and provide timely feedback.
  • Communicate proactively with families and work in partnership with the school team.
  • Support students spiritually, academically, socially, and physically.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning, and school-wide events as assigned.
  • Integrate biblical truth into daily instruction in age-appropriate ways.
  • Model Christlike character, servant leadership, and professionalism.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Support the life of the school through involvement beyond the classroom as needed.
  • Teachers lead an advisement group of approximately 15 to 18 students and provide academic guidance and spiritual mentorship in partnership with families.
