JOB SUMMARY The primary purpose of this temporary position is to provide services for campus building maintenance and grounds maintenance care and operations.
Requirements
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Proven ability to make responsible facility maintenance decisions and complete work tasks in a professional manner.
- Ability to provide excellent service and communication to University customers, and Facilities Services team members.
- Have basic knowledge and skills in proper methods and operation of building maintenance systems and tools.
- Working knowledge of proper material handling methods and general building maintenance and care.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the work; lifting of 50 pounds, working on ladder and from heights.
- Ability to adjust to changing workloads and schedules.
- Experience and sensitivity working with staff and customers from diverse backgrounds.
- Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Valid MN Driver’s License or equivalent.
- Successfully pass a required criminal background check.
Nice To Haves
- 3+ years or more experience in a general maintenance or closely related building maintenance position.
Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with building and furniture repair in Residence Halls.
- Perform various material handling and campus delivery activities.
- Operate forklift and other bulk material handling equipment.
- Assist with general painting of walls and other surfaces.
- Perform and assist with various building maintenance and mechanical repair work utilizing work order systems including changing light fixture lamps.
- Moving and rearranging office, classroom and lounge furniture and equipment.
- Perform furniture assembly and adjustment.
- Assist with the maintenance of campus storage spaces.
- Assist with and perform various trash and recycling activities including general litter cleanup.
- Assist with grounds and exterior site maintenance including snow and ice removal.
- Respond to campus emergencies during off-hours.
- Work and communicate with other Facilities Services staff including student workers.
- All other duties as requested.
