JOB SUMMARY The primary purpose of this temporary position is to provide services for campus building maintenance and grounds maintenance care and operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Proven ability to make responsible facility maintenance decisions and complete work tasks in a professional manner.
  • Ability to provide excellent service and communication to University customers, and Facilities Services team members.
  • Have basic knowledge and skills in proper methods and operation of building maintenance systems and tools.
  • Working knowledge of proper material handling methods and general building maintenance and care.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the work; lifting of 50 pounds, working on ladder and from heights.
  • Ability to adjust to changing workloads and schedules.
  • Experience and sensitivity working with staff and customers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Valid MN Driver’s License or equivalent.
  • Successfully pass a required criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years or more experience in a general maintenance or closely related building maintenance position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and assist with building and furniture repair in Residence Halls.
  • Perform various material handling and campus delivery activities.
  • Operate forklift and other bulk material handling equipment.
  • Assist with general painting of walls and other surfaces.
  • Perform and assist with various building maintenance and mechanical repair work utilizing work order systems including changing light fixture lamps.
  • Moving and rearranging office, classroom and lounge furniture and equipment.
  • Perform furniture assembly and adjustment.
  • Assist with the maintenance of campus storage spaces.
  • Assist with and perform various trash and recycling activities including general litter cleanup.
  • Assist with grounds and exterior site maintenance including snow and ice removal.
  • Respond to campus emergencies during off-hours.
  • Work and communicate with other Facilities Services staff including student workers.
  • All other duties as requested.
