Exciting Job Opportunity at Ardent Mills! Utility Operator - Primarily 1st shift. Must be open to work 2nd/3rd shift as 1 week a month with be on a rotation schedule. To train and become qualified to fill vacant Operator positions. All Employees are expected to develop the skills necessary to advance to the next level. To Assist All Employees with mill problems as necessary.

Requirements

  • Analytical skills to recognize and assess problems.

  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and schedules.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, multiple times per day
  • Climb ladder, step and extension
  • Able to lift to 50 pounds and exert 20 pounds of force
  • Frequently stand, walk, rotate, bend/stoop, twist, crouch, kneel, balance and reach at shoulder level and below shoulder level
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including a dust mask
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for understanding and following all personnel and equipment safety policies; all GMP, HACCP, Sanitation policies; following all Business Unit policies and procedures.
  • Climb stairs between floors.
  • Wear full-body secondary fall protection harness – working from heights above 10 feet.
  • Work in Tight or Enclosed or Confined Spaces
  • Climb ladders to access overheads.
  • Use compressed air hoses / wands to blow down overheads.
  • Scrub floors and Equipment.
  • Feed in flour / mill stocks / bagged product – 50 pounds.
  • Help move 50-pound ingredients boxes into position.
  • Empty 50-pound boxes and bags into waist high feeder hoppers
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Comfortable with computers – able to enter data into plant control system computers for record keeping and operate computer process controls.
  • Dump out 50-pound malt bags.
  • Operate chain hoist and pallet jack.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions (English).
  • Communicate with peers and supervisors (English)
  • Pick up spilled product with shovels / barrels (wheat, screenings, flour, mill stocks, feed, etc.).
  • Repair work on sifters on mill repair days.
  • Keep assigned work area clean, tidy, and uncluttered.
  • Operate Fork Truck
  • Become Qualified as Relief Loader/Blender
  • Become Qualified as Relief Elevator Operator including Track Engine Operation
  • Become qualified to do basic Maintenance tasks ie: Roll Changing, Spouting, Leak Repairs
  • Become Qualified to perform basic Miller duties, ie: unchoking lifts and spouts, taking extractions, adjusting roll grind
  • Other related job tasks / functions as assigned by management.
