What We Are Looking For Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Vessel Operator-Push Boat Operator to command our vessel and oversee the safe transport of barges and materials. You will be responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel, the lashing and securing of barges, and the routine maintenance of marine equipment. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in "pushing" maneuvers with the ability to work in various river/water conditions. You will be required to ensure the safety of deck crew members.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience operating push boats with twin outboard motors specifically with barge fleeting or transport.
  • Must be able to work 7 days a week, 10-12 hours per day.

Responsibilities

  • Vessel Navigation & Maneuvering: Safe Transit: Safely navigate the push boat and tow (barges) through inland waterways.
  • Maneuvering: Execute precise "pushing" and "pulling" maneuvers to assemble, move, and secure barges for loading and unloading.
  • Crew Leadership & Deck Operations: Supervision: Lead and direct deckhand in the proper wiring, lashing, and rigging of barges.
  • Safety Oversight: Ensure crew members follow company safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE and PFDs.
  • Training: Mentor junior crew members on marine safety and line-handling techniques.
  • Equipment Maintenance & Compliance: Vessel Logs: Maintain accurate daily logs, including fuel consumption, engine hours, and production.
  • Boat Maintenance- daily boat inspection, check engine oil, and keep boat free of debris and tripping hazards
