VCA Ashford Animal Hospital is seeking a highly experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our leadership team as a Technician Supervisor. The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care - with the expertise and technician know-how to make them happen. This is a working supervisory position which is responsible for the leadership of the Veterinary Technician Staff. In addition to all Veterinary Technician responsibilities, duties will include, but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • Must have excellent communication and organization skills. Attention to detail is very important.
  • Strong Technician Skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and Lead Technical Staff on the floor.
  • Direct job placement and task management, keeping technical skills in mind.
  • Prioritize treatment and coordination of staff movement.
  • Discuss treatment priority with doctors on shift, advise as needed, and take ultimate direction from management.
  • Be responsible for orientation, job training and development of the technical support staff.
  • Develop and present continuing education topics to the staff on a regular basis.
  • Take part in job shadows/interviews related to the technical staff and provide feedback to hospital manager.
  • Take part and/or write performance evaluations for the team.
  • Manage technical staff breaks and down time activities.
  • Initiate changes in technical staff coverage while creating and managing staff schedules.
  • Manage call-ins and physically cover shifts as needed.
  • Monitor technician participation in client services, phone calls, histories, discharges and client visits.
  • Review treatment sheets and medical records to ensure standard of care is met by technician staff.
  • Reporting inventory lows, managing unreported inventory outages, manage inventory counts.
  • Notify the hospital manager of necessary building and equipment repairs. Must be able to perform maintenance or troubleshooting on equipment as needed.
