About The Position

The Volunteer Coffee Host plays an important role at the Kaimukī-Waiʻalae YMCA by creating a warm, welcoming environment for YMCA members and guests. This position focuses on preparing and serving coffee while fostering friendly, positive interactions with everyone who visits. As a Coffee Host, you help build a sense of community by greeting members with a smile, engaging in light conversation, and ensuring each person feels acknowledged and valued. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy connecting with people, have a friendly and approachable demeanor, and take pride in creating a comfortable and inclusive atmosphere. By offering both refreshments and genuine hospitality, the Volunteer Coffee Host contributes to the YMCA’s mission of strengthening community through connection and belonging. The coffee stand is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteer shifts are flexible, and individuals may sign up to cover the full shift or a portion of the hours based on their availability.

Requirements

  • Friendly, welcoming, and approachable personality
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to scheduled volunteer shifts
  • Comfortable performing light tasks such as setting up, serving beverages, restocking supplies, and cleaning
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting (e.g., carrying coffee supplies)
