About The Position

Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas (GSSWT) is headquartered in San Antonio, TX and serves more than 10,000 Girl Scouts (girls and adults) across 21 counties in southwest Texas. Girl Scouts is the world’s preeminent leadership development organization for girls, building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. The Volunteer Experience Manager is responsible for providing leadership in the development of innovative strategies and effective service for supporting adult membership through the volunteer community structure. The manager is responsible for managing the Volunteer Experience Specialists as they work to support and retain adult volunteers and girl members of GSSWT. The manager oversees the Volunteer Experience staff in delivery of support services to volunteer community Chairs and the team to ensure the effective delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. The manager works in partnership with other operational and organizational functions to support organizational mission, goals and strategic priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two to four years of progressive responsibility; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be proficient with computer and Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Outlook, and Word).
  • The employee is required to maintain membership with Girl Scouts of the United States of America throughout the duration of their employment with GSSWT.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit for and develop volunteer committee structure.
  • Responsible for overseeing initial onboarding volunteer development.
  • Provides leadership in the development of innovative strategies and effective services for supporting girl and adult membership through the GSSWT Community volunteer structure.
  • Manages the team of specialists dedicated to providing customer service and support for adult volunteers and girls in established communities.
  • Oversees implementation of the council’s volunteer management system within the volunteer structure to include the development, training, recognition, and re-assignment of Community Chairs.
  • Ensures the effective flow of communication between Community volunteers and council staff; oversees the effective brokerage and access to additional support services and resources.
  • Ensures product program team is provided with essential information to support product sales program.
  • Manages and provides support for problem solving and conflict resolution within Communities.
  • Supports grant development and implementation.
  • Maintains compliance with council and Girl Scouts USA policies as well as federal and state regulations while ensuring that the organizational goals are met.
  • Maintains contact center database by entering information accurately and quickly.
  • Manages and coordinates department budget and corresponding resource allocations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned in support of the council’s mission and goals.
