About The Position

Want to join our team? We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator who will be responsible for all aspects of volunteer management at Hospice of the Chesapeake. This coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, training and matching volunteers with requests for services and so much more. Office Location: Pasadena MD Schedule: Dayshift, Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm. Status: Full-time, Exempt Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience, education and credentialing

Requirements

  • College degree preferred.
  • Specialized training in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Publisher or similar software packages strongly preferred.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in an office or customer service environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to address issues directly and effectively with staff and volunteers
  • Ability to deal tactfully, directly, and effectively with a diverse population of volunteers and staff.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Able to prioritize and accomplish most important tasks within a demanding and fast paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to function as a positive team player, including working a flexible schedule if needed to accommodate the needs of the department.
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to self-direct.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple assignments and projects with speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under time constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting, screening, training, and certification of new volunteers
  • Providing shadowing and mentoring opportunities for volunteers
  • Matching volunteers with requests for patient care, healing arts, honor salutes, and administrative work
  • Facilitate coordination of services between volunteers, patients, and their families.
  • Keeping staff informed of status of referrals including attempts to secure volunteers and offering alternative services
  • Attending IDTs and having regular communication with teams about volunteer needs, services, and status reports
  • Collaborating with director at the inpatient center to identify volunteer needs, developing and filling shifts, and overseeing their service.
  • Keeping accurate records of data
  • Building partnerships within the community to recruit volunteers, enhance volunteer services, support events, and help fulfill mission.
  • Providing ongoing trainings, education, exchanges, and support to volunteers
  • Managing performance of volunteers and completing annual evaluations
