The leader in this role will partner with BMS' Chief Research Officer and will be a member of the Global Research Leadership Team. The role reports directly to the SVP, R&D Finance and is a member of the R&D Finance Leadership Team. Influential and collaborative senior Finance business partnering role for a leader who operates with an Enterprise lens, and effectively shapes and drives the achievement of Research goals through: Managing all aspects of the global Research P&L In close partnership with Research LT developing financial plans and goals grounded in key value drivers Optimizing resource allocation across all Research areas and functions Evolving the financial planning approach; in particular, leveraging and accelerating the use of technology and AI Clearly communicating Research's overall strategy, including and especially the key financial impacts The identification and communication of financial risks and opportunities together with the development and execution of related mitigation action plans Further developing a high-performing Research Finance team Constructively challenging the status quo and relentlessly seeking value creation opportunities Building collaborative and results-focused relationships across all levels and functions

Requirements

  • Ability to design new processes that suit evolving business and financial needs
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems and processes
  • Comfort with complex technical accounting concepts, including BD activities, integration, etc.
  • A minimum of 15 years progressive and diverse financial leadership experience, supporting multiple functions and business units

Responsibilities

  • Financial Management and Resource Allocation Partner with Research Leadership Team (LT) members to manage financial plans aligned with the Company strategy and business priorities
  • Manage all aspects of the Research P&L; leverage data and key value drivers to identify opportunities to achieve business goals and meet financial commitments
  • Lead and oversee capital expenditures for the Research organization
  • Support Delivery of External Innovation
  • Maintain a close partnership with the Alliance Management team to manage the financial aspects of external research collaborations
  • Actively participate in the evaluation of potential future collaborations and business development activities within the Research area activities for Research area
  • Evolve the Financial Planning and Management Reporting Processes
  • Drive a continuous focus on simplification to enable maximum time for value creation support and accelerate insight generation
  • Articulate material risks and opportunities, take an active role in designing and executing mitigation plans to address gaps and variances to trend
  • Build strong Finance Research Organization
  • Attract, retain, and develop strong finance talent
  • Act as an inspirational and engaging leader who motivates teams through the clear articulation of the enterprise, R&D, and Research strategies, aligning priorities and resources accordingly
  • Create and orchestrate development opportunities within and outside of the team
  • Constantly scan for best practices and implement relevant concepts as appropriate
  • Maintain Highest Standards of Internal Controls
  • Ensure that company assets are well protected, maintain effective and efficient control standards, and continuously set the right tone from the top
